Before I bought my boat, I already knew a watermaker was a priority for me, it didn’t matter that I had (quite literally) no money in my bank account. I researched so many different brands of watermakers, and the one that kept sticking out to me was SeaWaterPro.
They have both AC and DC models with multiple options for ….? The first thing that drew me in was how much water I could make with a DC system. 17 GALLONS per hour?! This seemed to good to be true.
The other thing, and arguably the more important part was the simplicity of all of their systems. After working on larger boats with more complex systems, I have seen watermakers break quite often, and because of their complexity, a professional would have to come in. I don’t personally have that money and I also need to be able to fix my systems in remote places, which is why SeaWaterPro was perfect. I had help with the install, but knowing what I know now, it would have been a breeze. The system is very straight forward with very few parts, and after 3 years, it is still working perfectly. While we are on the water note, I would like to add that reverse osmosis takes out any chemicals and contaminates in addition to the salt. Even with this, I never know what is already in my tanks if they’ve been sitting, and one year into ownership I added a water filter faucet. I researched into this quite a bit and settled on ACUVA. I now have a separate faucet for drinking; this runs through an additional particle filter and a UV filter which disrupts the DNA in microorganisms, inactivating them.
